This past weekend, Orlando L. Blanco spoke with experts on a panel discussion about the legal implications of the criminal convictions of two paramedics in Colorado’s Elijah McClain case.

This is a clear example of role conflict in EMS. The Journal of Emergency Medical Services outlines the guidelines for restraint, when a viable option, and addresses the question, “Were you following what law enforcement asked you to do or were you treating and advocating for the patient?”
